Objectives
- Introduce fundamentals of Gandhian nonviolence and peace.
- Explore the dynamics of nonviolence.
- Analyse global contexts, conditions, and composition of peace.
- Understand nonviolent action: struggle for justice and peace; sustainable living parameters.
- Equip individuals to transform conflict into creative experiences and to manage turbulent human situations constructively.
Learning Outcomes
After the fellowship, participants will be able to:
- Understand fundamentals of nonviolence and apply them in personal and societal contexts.
- Handle challenges inclusively with tools and techniques for sustainable peace.
Pedagogy & Methods
- Interactive and participatory mode of teaching.
- Tools used: Exercises, audio-visuals, PPT.
- Techniques: Design thinking, group discussions, case presentations.
Modules / Course Structure
Four main thematic courses:
- Global Sustainability Challenges and Response
Topics include models of development; socio-economic and environmental sustainability; individual, societal, state responses; tools and strategies. - Fundamentals and Dynamics of Gandhian Nonviolence & Peace
Philosophical foundations; meaning and dimensions of nonviolence; Gandhian vision; values like trusteeship, self-reliance, rural life. - Application of Nonviolent Action & Global Experience
Theories and practices of Satyagraha; civil disobedience; case studies from Gandhi, MLK, anti-apartheid, etc. - Dealing with Conflict: Conducting Conflict Creatively
Understanding conflict types, sources; conflict resolution, transformation; negotiation, mediation, constructive approaches.
