कौसानी में शराबबंदी को लेकर एकजुट हुए गांधीवादी चिंतक और युवा
रविवार को देशभर से आए यूथ फॉर ट्रुथ के युवा, वरिष्ठ गांधीवादी चिंतक, महिलाएं और सामाजिक कार्यकर्ता कौसानी में शराब की दुकानों के खिलाफ एकजुट होकर सड़कों पर उतरे। उन्होंने पंत मार्ग से कौसानी तिराहे तक यात्रा निकाली और शराब की दुकान के सामने जोरदार नारेबाजी करते हुए विरोध दर्ज कराया।
प्रदर्शनकारियों का कहना था कि कौसानी — जहाँ महात्मा गांधी ने अनासक्ति योग की टीका लिखी, जो सरला बहन की कर्मभूमि रही, और छायावादी कवि सुमित्रानंदन पंत की जन्मस्थली है — वहां शराब की दुकानों का होना पवित्रता पर सीधा हमला है।
पूर्व मुख्यमंत्री हरीश रावत का समर्थन
सोमवार को पूर्व मुख्यमंत्री हरीश रावत स्वयं अनासक्ति आश्रम पहुंचे और प्रदर्शन में शामिल सभी वरिष्ठजनों और युवाओं से मुलाकात की। उन्होंने स्पष्ट कहा कि वह इस आंदोलन का पूरा समर्थन करते हैं। उन्होंने मंच से ही डीएम अल्मोड़ा को फोन कर शराब की दुकान बंद कराने का आग्रह किया और चेतावनी दी कि यदि एक महीने में दुकान नहीं बंद हुई तो वह स्वयं आकर ताला लगाएंगे।
गांधीवादी विचारकों का सशक्त वक्तव्य
गांधीवादी चिंतक रामदत्त त्रिपाठी ने कहा,
“एक ओर सरकार राधा बहन भट्ट को पद्मश्री देती है, वहीं दूसरी ओर शराब की दुकानें खोलकर उनकी मूल भावनाओं और विचारों को ठेस पहुंचाती है। यह कौसानी की सांस्कृतिक और आध्यात्मिक विरासत पर आघात है।”
शांतिपूर्ण लेकिन सशक्त आंदोलन
प्रदर्शन के दौरान कुछ लोगों ने शराब के पक्ष में तर्क देने की कोशिश की, लेकिन प्रदर्शनकारियों ने शांतिपूर्ण और गरिमापूर्ण ढंग से अपनी बात रखी और कहा कि यह आंदोलन तब तक जारी रहेगा जब तक कौसानी से शराब की दुकानें पूरी तरह बंद नहीं हो जातीं।
Gandhian Thinkers and Youth Unite in Kausani to Demand Liquor Ban
On Sunday, Youth for Truth members, Gandhian thinkers, women, and social workers from across India gathered in Kausani to protest against liquor shops. They marched from Pant Marg to the Kausani Tri-junction, raising slogans in front of the liquor shop and expressing their disapproval.
The protesters emphasized that Kausani — the sacred land where Mahatma Gandhi wrote his commentary Anasakti Yoga, the karmabhoomi of Sarla Behn, and the birthplace of the renowned poet Sumitranandan Pant — is no place for alcohol.
Support from Former CM Harish Rawat
On Monday, former Chief Minister Harish Rawat visited Anasakti Ashram and met with senior Gandhians and youth. He assured them of his full support for the liquor ban movement. From the stage, he called the District Magistrate of Almora and urged immediate action to shut the shop, warning that if it wasn’t closed within a month, he would personally come and lock it.
Strong Statements from Gandhian Leaders
Gandhian thinker Ram Dutt Tripathi stated:
“On one hand, the government honors Radha Bhatt with a Padma Shri, and on the other, it opens liquor shops that hurt her values and sentiments. This is an attack on the cultural and spiritual heritage of Kausani.”
Peaceful Yet Determined Movement
While a few people tried to argue in favor of the liquor shop, the protesters maintained peace and dignity. They firmly reiterated that this movement will continue until all liquor outlets in Kausani are permanently closed.
